The government has extended the tenure of Gurdeep Singh as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NTPC by one year, according to an official notification.

Singh, who was scheduled to retire on July 31, will now continue to head India’s largest power producer until the end of July 2026.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the Ministry of Power’s proposal for Singh’s re-employment on a contractual basis for one year beyond his superannuation, effective from August 1, 2025, to July 31, 2026, the Department of Personnel & Training said in its notification.
