Sensex slips 400 pts; auto, PSBs, FMCG stocks under pressure

Benchmark indices are trading at day's low in afternoon session, with auto stocks being the top drags on the indices. Share price of Motherson Sumi Systems fell nearly 10 percent on August 13 after company reported dismal numbers for the quarter ended June 2019.

The company's Q1FY20 consolidated net profit was down 25.2 percent at Rs 331.5 crore versus Rs 443.1 crore in a year ago period.

Share price of Sintex Plastics Technology locked at 5 percent upper circuit after company divested the entire holding in its wholly owned subsidiary.

At 14:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading 37170.32 down by 411.59 points or by 1.1 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11014.95 down by 94.7 points or by 0.85 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 37755.16 and intraday low of 37169.12 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11145.9 and intraday low of 11005.15.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1283.45,+10.45%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 428.50,+1.56%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 204.25,+1.09%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 131.45,+0.69%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 122.30,+0.20%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 74.70,-9.01%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 351.20,-5.40%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 516.20,-5.40%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 117.85,-4.81%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 3254.75,-4.78%), among others.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2715 , shares advanced were 919 while 1646 shares declined and 150 were unchanged.
