Sensex, Nifty trade higher; Axis Bank,HDFC top gainers

Domestic bourses continued to trade higher during the morning deals supported by buying in index heavyweights including Axis Bank , Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd., State Bank of India, and IndusInd Bank Ltd. among others.

Indian rupee opened flat at 75.51 per dollar on Wednesday against previous close of 75.50,amid positive domestic equity market.

At 10:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 35030.43 up by 114.63 points or by 0.33 % and then NSE Nifty was at 10337.5 up by 35.4 points or by 0.34 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 35152.32 and intraday low of 34927.2 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10363.4 and intraday low of 10299.6

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 415.10,+2.12%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1785.25,+1.74%), State Bank of India (Rs. 181.30,+1.63%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 482.30,+1.61%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 197.55,+1.52%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 93.05,-2.92%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1323.80,-2.65%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 79.50,-2.33%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 922.50,-2.28%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 16933.00,-1.43%), among others.

Among the sectors, IT index was at 16465.01 up by 84.67 points or by 0.52%. Cyient Ltd. (Rs. 289.80,+5.11%), AXISCADES Engineering Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 53.55,+5.00%), HCL Infosystems Ltd. (Rs. 11.38,+4.60%), 3i Infotech Ltd. (Rs. 2.84,+2.90%), Infibeam Avenues Ltd. (Rs. 60.50,+2.46%),.

Power index was at 1549.03 down by -25.83 points or by -1.64%. Adani Green Energy Ltd. (Rs. 340.80,-4.99%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 93.00,-2.97%), ABB India Ltd. (Rs. 927.65,-1.69%), Thermax Ltd. (Rs. 744.00,-1.37%), Tata Power Company Ltd. (Rs. 44.30,-1.34%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2493 , shares advanced were 1222 while 1152 shares declined and 119 were unchanged.
