Standard Glass partners with Japan’s AGI group for advanced heat exchangers

Standard Glass Lining Technology Limited (SGLTL), a prominent Indian engineering company recently listed on the NSE and BSE, has announced a landmark strategic partnership with Japan’s AGI Group and its affiliate GL HAKKO—global leaders in advanced glass-lined technology. Through this alliance, SGLTL has secured an exclusive 20-year license to assemble and market GL HAKKO’s state-of-the-art glass-lined shell and tube heat exchangers in India, marking a significant breakthrough that places the company at the forefront of innovation in this domain.

At the signing ceremony, SGLTL Managing Director Nageswara Rao Kandula expressed pride in the collaboration, describing it as a historic opportunity for Indian manufacturing. He noted that this partnership would enable Standard Glass to become the first and only domestic manufacturer of this advanced product, which until now had been entirely imported. Highlighting the 75-year legacy of AGI and GL HAKKO in glass technology, he emphasized the positive impact this collaboration would have on India’s pharmaceutical and chemical industries.

Glass-lined shell and tube heat exchangers offer superior durability, corrosion resistance, and enhanced process safety, presenting a significant upgrade from the traditionally used graphite heat exchangers, which are prone to particle contamination and batch failures. The Indian market for these advanced systems is estimated to be worth around ?2,000 crore, while the global opportunity is valued at over $2 billion. Standard Glass has already received 150 advance orders and is gearing up to begin domestic manufacturing by the fourth quarter of FY26 at its upcoming world-class, highly mechanized facility, which will initially have a production capacity of 200 units per month.

In a parallel development, SGLTL has also signed an exclusive agreement with GL HAKKO to manufacture Conductivity Glass-Lined Reactors—another first for India. These reactors offer a major safety enhancement by discharging static electricity almost instantly, addressing a common hazard in pharmaceutical and chemical process environments. Mr. Nagesh emphasized that this innovation would provide an effective safety solution for clients while further elevating the company’s product offerings.

Expressing gratitude to AGI Group, Mr. Nagesh acknowledged the vision and trust of Mr. Yasuyuki Ikeda, Group CEO of AGI, and stated that the partnership marks a major turning point for Standard Glass. The launch of the two pioneering products is expected to redefine industry standards and propel the company into a new era of innovation and customer service, guided by its longstanding philosophy that “Customer is God.”

Mr. Yasuyuki Ikeda shared his excitement about the collaboration, expressing confidence in Standard Glass’s ability to deliver world-class solutions. He highlighted the company’s wide-ranging capabilities, calling it a “true engineering supermarket” capable of manufacturing over 90 product types under one roof. As the second-largest shareholder in Standard Glass after its Indian promoters, AGI Group reiterated its commitment to a long-term, multi-generational partnership aimed at global excellence.
