PROSTARM to Set Up 1.2 GWh Battery Energy Storage Manufacturing Facility at Reliance MET City, Haryana

Prostarm Info Systems Limited, a key player in power electronics and critical power infrastructure, has announced plans to establish its first Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility in Reliance MET City, Jhajjar, Haryana. This move marks a major step in the company’s forward integration strategy and reinforces its commitment to expanding its capabilities in the battery energy storage segment.

The company has secured a 9-year lease, from May 2025 to April 2034, for a 3,912.15 sq. meter land parcel, which includes a 34,000 sq. ft. covered shed area. With a planned capital investment of Rs. 25 crore, the facility will feature advanced plant and machinery, office infrastructure, HVAC systems, upgraded power capacity, anti-static flooring, warehousing, and other high-end infrastructure to support efficient assembly and integration. Once operational, the plant will have an annual production capacity of 1.2 GWh.

Targeting both Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and Utility-scale applications, the facility is expected to be commissioned by the end of FY26. It will cater to India’s rising demand for battery storage solutions, which are vital to achieving the country’s renewable energy goals. Industry projections indicate that India’s BESS capacity could grow from under 0.2 GW today to 66 GW by 2032, with over 44 GW expected to be added by 2030.

BESS adoption is accelerating due to several factors:

Quick backup capabilities that enhance grid stability.

A shift in the C&I segment from diesel generators to battery storage.

Declining lithium-ion battery costs making the technology more affordable.

Mr. Ram Agarwal, Whole Time Director and CEO of Prostarm, commented:

"This strategic expansion marks our entry into the rapidly growing BESS market, a natural extension of our expertise in power electronics. With this facility, we aim to become one of India’s few OEMs manufacturing BESS solutions, supplying directly to EPC contractors and developers, and unlocking significant revenue opportunities. This initiative firmly positions Prostarm at the forefront of India’s energy transition."

Prostarm has already secured a 22 MWh order from Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd. worth approximately Rs. 52 crore, as well as a Letter of Intent from Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd. for a 120 MWh project on a BOOT model, with a monthly rental of Rs. 4.44 lakh per MW over 12 years.
