The rupee appreciated 18 paise to 90.12 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday, supported by a weaker greenback and lower global crude oil prices.
However, gains were capped amid concerns over Donald Trump’s remarks on tariffs on India, continued FII outflows, and weak sentiment in domestic equity markets, forex traders said.
In the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 90.22 against the dollar and strengthened further to 90.12, marking an 18-paise rise from its previous close.
