Rupee gains 31 Paise to settle at 89.87 against US Dollar

The Indian rupee strengthened by 31 paise to close at 89.87 (provisional) against the US dollar on Wednesday, supported by a decline in global crude oil prices and possible intervention by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 90.20 against the US dollar and traded within a range of 89.75 to 90.23 during the session before settling at 89.87, up 31 paise from its previous close.

The domestic currency had already snapped a four-day losing streak on Tuesday, when it appreciated 12 paise to close at 90.18 against the American currency.
