Ministry of Steel to Hold Open House on Steel Import Issues on February 2

The Ministry of Steel will hold an Open House meeting on February 2, 2026, to discuss issues related to the import of steel, including matters concerning SIMS, SARAL SIMS and QCO exemptions.

The Open House will be conducted from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm at the Steel Room, 3rd Floor, GPOA-3, Netaji Nagar, New Delhi. Companies and industry associations facing issues related to steel imports have been invited to present their concerns during the session.

To participate, interested companies and associations must send an email to tech-steel[at]nic[dot]in to obtain a confirmed time slot. While sending the request, participants are required to provide details such as the name of the company or association, whether the issue relates to SIMS, SARAL SIMS or QCO exemption, name and designation of the participant, reference details of any relevant application, type of industry and product, a brief description of the issue (up to 50 words), and contact details. Third-party representation will not be permitted.

The ministry clarified that walk-in participation will not be allowed due to logistical constraints, and only one representative per organisation will be permitted to ensure wider participation. Confirmed time slots will be communicated via email.

Companies and associations seeking to raise issues related to SIMS, SARAL SIMS or QCO exemption for steel imports have been advised to submit their requests by 6:00 pm on January 30, 2026, to secure a confirmed time slot.
