Gold futures rise on firm spot demand

Gold futures increased by Rs 1,044 to Rs 1,53,880 per 10 grams on Friday, as speculators created fresh positions amid firm demand in the spot market.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold contracts for April delivery rose by Rs 1,044, or 0.68 per cent, to Rs 1,53,880 per 10 grams, with a business turnover of 1,538 lots.

Analysts said the rise was driven by fresh buying by participants, supported by strong spot market demand.
