CRED Receives RBI Authorisation to Operate as Payment Aggregator

CRED on Wednesday announced that it has received final authorisation from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate as a payment aggregator.

With this approval, CRED and its subsidiaries now hold two RBI licences, including a Prepaid Payment Instrument (PPI) authorisation.

In a statement, the company said the RBI has formally authorised its entity, Dreamplug Paytech Solutions Private Limited, to operate a payment system under the regulator’s supervision. The licence allows CRED to onboard merchants, collect payments on their behalf across multiple instruments, and manage settlements and refunds.

The development strengthens CRED’s position in India’s digital payments ecosystem by enabling it to expand merchant payment solutions under direct regulatory oversight.
