JP Nadda to lead national World TB Day 2026 event in Greater Noida

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will commemorate World TB Day 2026 with a national-level event on March 24 at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda will preside over the event.

The programme will highlight India’s accelerated efforts towards eliminating tuberculosis (TB), aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a TB-Mukt Bharat. It will showcase key achievements, innovative approaches, and enhanced community participation under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP).

On the occasion, the Health Minister will launch the intensified “TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – 100 Days Campaign,” along with the TB Mukt Bharat App and the TB Mukt Urban Ward Initiative. These initiatives aim to boost early detection, improve treatment adherence, and strengthen last-mile delivery of TB services, especially in high-burden areas.

The event aligns with the World TB Day 2026 theme, “Yes! We Can End TB!”, reinforcing India’s renewed commitment to combating the disease. It also echoes the Prime Minister’s continued emphasis on achieving a TB-free India.

The programme will be attended by Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, senior government officials, public health experts, development partners, and healthcare professionals.

The observance underscores India’s determination to meet Sustainable Development Goals related to TB elimination ahead of global timelines, while strengthening multi-sectoral collaboration and evidence-based strategies to eradicate TB as a public health concern.
