SEBI, NISM and IICA Sign MoU to Strengthen Corporate Governance and ESG Ecosystem

Securities and Exchange Board of India, National Institute of Securities Markets and Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote corporate governance, ESG practices, and capital market development in India.

Under the partnership, NISM and IICA will jointly develop and conduct capacity-building programmes, certification courses, executive education modules, and specialised training programmes for SEBI officials and professionals from regulatory and financial sector institutions.

The MoU was signed in Mumbai on May 19, 2026, in the presence of SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey. During the event, the SEBI chief highlighted the importance of strengthening corporate governance standards, improving sustainability disclosures, supporting MSME access to capital markets, and encouraging evidence-based policy research.

The collaboration will focus on areas such as ESG reporting, Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR), sustainable finance, responsible investing, insolvency, board governance, market integrity, valuation, and emerging regulatory frameworks.

Both institutions will also work together on policy studies, research initiatives, curriculum development, faculty exchange programmes, conferences, and publications aimed at strengthening India’s corporate and securities market ecosystem.
