India and Zimbabwe have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral defence cooperation during the inaugural meeting of the India-Zimbabwe Joint Defence Committee (JDC) held in New Delhi on June 4, 2026.
The two countries agreed to expand existing collaboration in areas such as military training, maintenance support, and operation of common air assets. They also explored opportunities for cooperation in new domains including joint defence manufacturing, counter-terrorism, border management, and peacekeeping operations.
The meeting was co-chaired by Amitabh Prasad and Aaron Daniel Tonde Nhepera, who led a 12-member Zimbabwean delegation on a two-day visit to India.
The discussions mark an important step in implementing the defence cooperation roadmap outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the defence ministers of both countries during Aero India 2025.
During the visit, the Zimbabwean delegation also held discussions with representatives of India's defence industry at DPSU Bhawan and explored potential areas of industrial collaboration. The delegation began its visit by paying tribute to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial.
The meeting is expected to further strengthen defence engagement between the two countries and open new avenues for strategic and industrial cooperation.
