RBI releases draft directions for government securities secondary market

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the draft Master Direction on Secondary Market Transactions in Government Securities, 2026, and has invited comments from banks, market participants, investors, and other stakeholders by July 17, 2026.

The draft directions aim to consolidate existing guidelines governing secondary market transactions in government securities into a single framework, enhancing clarity, streamlining compliance, and providing a unified reference for all stakeholders.
