Gold futures extended gains on Wednesday, rising Rs 1,151, or 0.8%, to Rs 1,45,450 per 10 grams for the October contract on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), supported by firm spot demand and fresh buying by market participants.
The contract witnessed a business turnover of 784 lots, with analysts attributing the rally to the creation of fresh long positions by traders amid improving demand.
In the international market, gold futures also traded higher, gaining 1.53% to USD 4,140.48 per ounce in New York, providing additional support to domestic prices.
