The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has invited public comments on the draft Reserve Bank of India (Commercial Banks – Prudential Norms on Capital Adequacy) Eleventh Amendment Directions, 2026, which propose amendments to the Leverage Ratio framework under the 2025 Capital Adequacy Directions.
The proposed changes aim to align India's banking regulations with the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision's 2017 Leverage Ratio Standard, strengthening the prudential framework governing banks' capital adequacy.
The RBI has invited comments from stakeholders until August 28, 2026. Feedback can be submitted through the 'Connect 2 Regulate' portal on the RBI website or by sending comments directly to the Department of Regulation at the RBI's Central Office in Mumbai.
