Tata Power Renewables commissions 190.5 MW FDRE Project in Rajasthan

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has commissioned a 190.5 MW solar Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project at Kalasar in Bikaner, Rajasthan, under its contracted 460 MW FDRE project.

The project has been developed under SJVN FDRE Tranche-1 and will supply power to Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC), Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) and Noida Power Company Ltd (NPCL).

The project combines large-scale solar generation with energy storage and grid-support technologies to provide reliable and dispatchable renewable power. TPREL said the project involved several execution challenges, including tight timelines and global supply chain disruptions affecting transmission line materials, module mounting structures and other critical equipment.

The company deployed technologies including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Harmonic Filter Bank and Static Var Generator systems. The switchyard was completed in three months, while the Harmonic Filter Bank was commissioned within one month.

Following the commissioning, TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity has increased to 12.4 GW. Of this, around 6.9 GW is operational, comprising 5.6 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind capacity, while nearly 5.5 GW is under implementation and is expected to be commissioned in phases over the next 24 months.

TPREL said the project reinforces its focus on developing clean energy solutions and supports India’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, along with Tata Power’s long-term sustainability objectives.
