Rupee falls 11 paise to close at 95.55 against US dollar

The rupee declined 11 paise to close at 95.55 (provisional) against the US dollar on Thursday, weighed down by a stronger American currency and weakness in domestic equity markets.

Forex traders said the broad strength of the US dollar in overseas markets offset the support from easing crude oil prices.

Brent crude prices fell below the USD 90-per-barrel mark for the first time in several sessions amid ongoing discussions between Iran and Oman over a temporary shipping corridor through the Strait.
