RBI forex swap facility attracts USD 136.38 billion in inflows

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said its special USD-INR forex swap facility, introduced on June 8, 2026, has attracted USD 136.38 billion in total forex inflows on a provisional basis as of August 31, 2026.

Of the total inflows, FCNR(B) deposits accounted for USD 127.23 billion, while Overseas Foreign Currency Borrowings (OFCBs) contributed USD 5.26 billion and External Commercial Borrowings (ECBs) brought in USD 3.89 billion.

The scheme was open for FCNR(B) deposits until August 31, 2026, while the facility for ECBs and OFCBs will remain available until December 31, 2026.

The RBI clarified that the figures are provisional and subject to final reporting, accounting and reconciliation.
