Rupee gains 47 paise to 94.26 against US dollar

The Indian rupee strengthened 47 paise to 94.26 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday, buoyed by significantly higher-than-anticipated mobilisation of FCNR(B) deposits.

Forex market participants said the currency is benefiting from robust underlying capital inflows and continued RBI intervention, which have helped cushion the pressure from elevated crude oil prices and higher global bond yields.

At the interbank forex market, the rupee began the session at 94.30 per dollar before recovering further to touch 94.26, marking a 47-paise improvement from its previous close.
