NITI Aayog launches PACT to accelerate zero-emission freight deployment in India

NITI Aayog has launched the Platform for Aggregating Clean Transport (PACT) under its e-FAST India initiative to accelerate the deployment of zero-emission trucks across the country.

Launched at the 5th e-FAST India Summit 2026, PACT aims to aggregate freight demand from shippers, logistics service providers and other stakeholders and translate it into deployment opportunities across identified freight corridors.

The platform will bring together shippers, logistics operators, vehicle manufacturers, financiers and charging point operators to improve demand visibility, support charging infrastructure planning and strengthen the commercial case for electric medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.

The launch comes as India's electric freight market gains momentum, with e-freight vehicle deployments rising more than fourfold from 201 vehicles in FY25 to 826 in FY26. More than 3,000 electric medium- and heavy-duty trucks are currently operating across India.

The summit also introduced the ZET Marketplace, an interactive platform designed to connect e-truck manufacturers, logistics service providers, charging operators, financiers and technology companies to facilitate business, financing and charging partnerships.

The initiative is aimed at moving India's zero-emission freight sector beyond individual pilot projects towards coordinated, commercially viable deployment at scale.
