India’s manufacturing sector gained momentum in September, with activity expanding at its fastest pace in seven months, supported by stronger new orders and increased output.
The improvement was driven by robust domestic and export demand, which also encouraged manufacturers to step up hiring. Business confidence strengthened as well, reaching a four-month high during the month.
The seasonally adjusted HSBC India Manufacturing PMI climbed to 55.1 in September from 52.8 in August, marking the strongest improvement in manufacturing conditions since February.
