India's automobile retail sales fell 23.8% year-on-year to 31.72 lakh units in October, primarily due to a high base and a decline in two-wheeler and passenger vehicle registrations, according to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).
The decline was largely attributed to the festive calendar shift, with Dhanteras and Diwali falling in November this year, compared with October last year, when strong pent-up demand followed the GST cut.
Two-wheeler sales dropped 28.35% to 23.21 lakh units, while passenger vehicle sales declined 4.23% to 5.08 lakh units during the month.
