The BSE Sensex and Nifty ended their six-day winning streak on Friday, weighed down by profit-booking in banking, FMCG, and metal stocks. Broader indices, however, registered only marginal losses.

The decline came as investors turned cautious ahead of US Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s address at the Jackson Hole Symposium later tonight.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 81306.85 down by -693.86 points or by -0.85 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24870.1 down by -213.65 points or by -0.85 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 81993.61 and intraday low of 81291.77 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25084.85 and intraday low of 24859.15

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3400.00,+0.79%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 14375.00,+0.65%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1642.90,+0.20%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1932.90,+0.14%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3618.90,+0.10%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2504.20,-2.44%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12614.70,-1.94%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 398.30,-1.84%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 158.55,-1.83%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1466.45,-1.77%), among others.
