Sensex down 139 points; NSE Nifty at 25734.2

Indian benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty opened on the backfoot on Wednesday as markets turn stock-specific amid the Q3FY26 results season.

At 9:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 83488.03 down by -139.66 points or by -0.17 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25734.2 up by 1.9 points or by 0.01 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 83698.19 and intraday low of 83288.13 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25750.45 and intraday low of 25638.35

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 932.25,+2.41%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 185.70,+1.75%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 340.85,+0.89%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1272.55,+0.84%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1326.85,+0.62%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1706.50,-1.35%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2849.00,-1.23%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3228.80,-1.19%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 422.55,-0.90%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2370.45,-0.81%), among others.

Metal index was at 37896.92 up by 438.76 points or by 1.17%. Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 656.25,+3.01%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 648.40,+2.95%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 440.80,+2.81%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 364.15,+1.92%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 185.70,+1.75%),.

Realty index was at 6620.92 down by -71.47 points or by -1.07%. Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1480.80,-2.32%), Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1058.00,-1.55%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 1870.20,-1.26%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1857.10,-1.21%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 645.10,-1.10%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3426 , shares advanced were 1712 while 1533 shares declined and 181 were unchanged.
