Mid-Session: Sensex falls slightly; Infosys, TCS weigh

Indian equity markets remained volatile on Wednesday, a day after witnessing a sharp surge following the finalisation of the India–US trade agreement. The deal reduced tariffs on Indian goods to 18 percent from the earlier 50 percent, boosting investor sentiment and removing a major uncertainty that had been weighing on the markets.

At 12:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 83706.97 down by -32.16 points or by -0.04 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25742.55 up by 15 points or by 0.06 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 83885.87 and intraday low of 83119.95 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25801.8 and intraday low of 25563.95

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 293.15,+4.83%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 3938.65,+3.03%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 290.05,+2.40%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 365.70,+1.99%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3593.95,+1.87%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1522.05,-8.03%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3008.55,-6.67%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1614.15,-5.92%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1605.00,-5.24%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 313.60,-0.98%), among others.

Oil&Gas index was at 28960.21 up by 607.32 points or by 2.14%. Oil India Ltd. (Rs. 511.20,+4.60%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 267.35,+3.99%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 171.45,+2.33%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 380.80,+2.02%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 458.95,+1.76%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4309 , shares advanced were 2576 while 1539 shares declined and 194 were unchanged.
