Post Session: Sensex up by 480 pts, Nifty above 25,700

The benchmark indices extended gains to the second session, as a rise in PSU bank and healthcare stocks supported. Broader markets ended on a mixed note. The Nifty MidCap ended 0.43 per cent down, while the NSE SmallCap ended 0.29 per cent higher.

On the Global front, Sentiment remained broadly positive in Asian stock markets despite fresh uncertainty attributed to the trade tariff environment triggered by the U.S. Supreme Court's recent ruling on tariffs.

Meanwhile Weak sentiment is expected to prevail in stock markets in Europe on Monday as markets grapple with the uncertain trade tariff environment after the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling to strike down President Trump's sweeping reciprocal tariffs.

Among sectors, the Nifty PSU Bank and the Nifty MidSmall Healthcare stocks outperformed. The indices settled 1.36 per cent 1.03 per cent higher, respectively. The Nifty IT was the worst performer, followed by the Nifty Chemicals index.

On the corporate front, shares of TD Power Systems hit a new high of ₹932.65, as they surged 6 per cent on the BSE in Monday’s intra-day trade amid heavy volumes. BLS International share price surged 11 per cent in Monday’s session. Shares of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) rose around 3.5 per cent to hit an intraday high of ₹1,564.50.

The 30-share benchmark index closed trading at 83294.66 up by 479.95 points or by 0.58 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25713 up by 141.75 points or by 0.55 %.

The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 83486.15 and intraday low of 82906.83 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25771.45 and intraday low of 25609.35.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1556.55,+2.98%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 430.70,+2.22%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12962.00,+1.55%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 303.35,+1.49%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1386.55,+1.34%), among others.

Kwality Wall's (India) Ltd. (Rs. 27.07,-2.42%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1328.45,-1.80%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1441.75,-1.06%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 4055.00,-0.83%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1426.35,-0.74%), among others were the top losers.

HCS index was at 43411.99 up by 326.51 points or by 0.76%. Morepen Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 45.37,+15.42%), Blue Jet Healthcare Ltd (Rs. 390.95,+9.99%), Neuland Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 13652.75,+7.89%), Metropolis Healthcare Ltd. (Rs. 1942.45,+4.17%), Jubilant Pharmova Ltd. (Rs. 902.00,+3.83%),.

On the flip side, IT index was at 30627.84 down by -423.86 points or by -1.37%. 63 Moons Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 585.20,-8.83%), Onward Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 276.70,-5.79%), Latent View Analytics Ltd. (Rs. 350.25,-4.22%), Coforge Ltd. (Rs. 1288.05,-3.86%), Newgen Software Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 537.70,-3.64%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4669 , shares advanced were 2040 while 2436 shares declined and 193 were unchanged.
