Sensex, Nifty stay under stress; Metals shine

Indian equities continued to trade in negative terrain in early morning deals on Tuesday amid weakness in index heavyweight Bharti Airtel and IT shares. Among sectors IT index down 2%, while metal and oil & gas indices up 0.5% each. Nifty Midcap and smallcap indices down 0.4% each.

Among Individual shares, Northern Arc Capital shares rose 2.9 per cent in trade, logging an intra-day high at ₹253 per share on BSE on Tuesday. Brahmaputra Infrastructure share price rose after the company received an order of ₹397 crore from New Delhi government.

Among others, PC Jeweller rose about 1 percent after incorporating PCJ Mining SARL in the Republic of Chad. Signpost India rallied 2.7 percent after securing exclusive outdoor advertising rights in Kolkata for 10 years.

At 10:33 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82541.98 down by -752.68 points or by -0.9 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25500.3 down by -212.7 points or by -0.83 %.

The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 83079.51 and intraday low of 82451.69 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25641.8 and intraday low of 25474.35.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2351.80,+0.30%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1389.40,+0.21%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1229.10,+0.11%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 430.90,+0.05%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1371.40,-3.85%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 257.90,-3.80%), Kwality Wall's (India) Ltd. (Rs. 26.05,-3.77%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1391.75,-3.47%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1284.70,-3.29%), among others.

On the sectoral front, Metal index was at 39658.93 up by 183.93 points or by 0.47%. Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 158.45,+1.12%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 688.95,+1.11%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 79.67,+0.86%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 595.30,+0.74%), Jindal Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1225.65,+0.71%),.

On the flip side, BSETECk index was at 15753.72 down by -477.3 points or by -2.94%. Coforge Ltd. (Rs. 1224.25,-4.95%), Persistent Systems Ltd. (Rs. 4732.00,-4.95%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1373.00,-3.74%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1392.85,-3.39%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1284.90,-3.28%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3937 , shares advanced were 1322 while 2407 shares declined and 208 were unchanged.
