Stock markets firm; Metal, Auto stocks support

Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty bounced back after falling in early trade on Tuesday, tracking a bullish trend in global markets.

At 10:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 75789.6 up by 286.75 points or by 0.38 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23525.85 up by 117.05 points or by 0.5 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 76014.31 and intraday low of 75324.73 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23537.1 and intraday low of 23346.6

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 230.25,+3.69%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3123.40,+2.89%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 192.30,+2.75%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2253.65,+1.63%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12954.00,+1.57%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1231.80,-1.42%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2378.85,-1.22%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1053.70,-1.20%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 3560.10,-0.98%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1317.25,-0.86%), among others.

Metal index was at 38026.42 up by 624.08 points or by 1.67%. Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 150.40,+3.83%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 384.40,+3.39%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 192.30,+2.75%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 544.75,+2.06%), Jindal Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1151.75,+1.70%),.

IT index was at 27769.24 down by -316.86 points or by -1.13%. Cigniti Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1027.00,-3.40%), Coforge Ltd. (Rs. 1044.20,-3.39%), Persistent Systems Ltd. (Rs. 4528.10,-2.49%), Newgen Software Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 440.95,-2.37%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 190.35,-2.33%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3971 , shares advanced were 2479 while 1303 shares declined and 189 were unchanged.
