Sensex, Nifty under pressure; pharma, oil & gas stocks fall

The Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex declined sharply after a mixed start, as market participants reacted to fresh threats issued over the weekend by Donald Trump.

At 9:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 72850.93 down by -468.62 points or by -0.64 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22704.35 down by -8.75 points or by -0.04 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 73588.75 and intraday low of 72790.49 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22798.25 and intraday low of 22591.7

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Trent Ltd. (Rs. 3723.85,+4.79%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 4158.85,+1.49%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1453.05,+0.80%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 423.80,+0.55%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1203.35,+0.43%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1319.35,-2.33%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1658.50,-2.13%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 351.20,-1.94%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1350.60,-1.94%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4133.45,-1.45%), among others.

Auto index was at 53297 up by 63.14 points or by 0.12%. Bosch Ltd. (Rs. 33059.15,+2.87%), TVS Motor Company Ltd. (Rs. 3464.55,+2.19%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 8860.00,+1.15%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 5062.60,+0.98%), Bharat Forge Ltd. (Rs. 1658.00,+0.95%),.

Oil&Gas index was at 25294.21 down by -358.55 points or by -1.4%. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 131.10,-2.42%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1319.35,-2.33%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3924 , shares advanced were 1835 while 1863 shares declined and 226 were unchanged.
