Indian benchmark indices hovered near the day’s lows, weighed down by a surge in oil prices after escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, where Iran reportedly fired at vessels and seized ships, raising concerns over global supply disruptions.

At 12:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77656.08 down by -860.41 points or by -1.1 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24215.55 down by -162.55 points or by -0.67 %.
