Indian equity markets are expected to open on a cautious-to-positive note, with GIFT Nifty indicating a muted start for the benchmark Nifty50 index. GIFT Nifty was trading at 23,534.50, up 27 points, ahead of the market opening.
Investor focus remains firmly on the outcome of the Reserve Bank of India's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting. The RBI is widely expected to keep the repo rate unchanged at 5.25%. Market participants will closely track RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra's commentary for insights on the inflation outlook, economic growth trajectory, and the central bank's future policy stance.
On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 74360.01 up by 13.84 points or by 0.02 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23416.55 up by 10.95 points or by 0.05 %.
On the global front, Asia-Pacific markets declined on Friday morning, with South Korea’s Kospi sliding 6 per cent. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and the CSI 300 were trading 1.82 per cent and 0.23 per cent down, respectively.
Overnight, the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average settled 1.73 per cent and 0.41 per cent higher, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite fell 0.09 per cent.
