The benchmark indices Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex traded near their day's highs on Wednesday, supported by strong buying in IT, private banking, and pharmaceutical stocks.

At 12:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 76836.39 up by 635.71 points or by 0.83 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23995.65 up by 171.55 points or by 0.72 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 76976.37 and intraday low of 76121.59 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24013.85 and intraday low of 23789.25

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Trent Ltd. (Rs. 3268.90,+4.05%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5112.00,+2.88%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1368.80,+2.30%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 981.70,+2.02%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 790.00,+2.00%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 254.00,-1.87%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 13220.00,-1.71%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 359.35,-1.47%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1885.00,-0.85%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 416.50,-0.82%), among others.
