Stock markets rally; IndiGo, Maruti Suzuki top gainers

Indian benchmark indices rallied on Thursday, tracking a decline in crude oil prices and a positive trend in Asian equities.

At 10:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77539.6 up by 548.38 points or by 0.71 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24172.1 up by 150.45 points or by 0.63 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 77565.44 and intraday low of 77280.49 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24190.25 and intraday low of 24107.8

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5440.00,+4.55%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 13739.75,+3.68%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3165.35,+3.29%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1049.95,+1.48%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2138.90,+1.43%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 4243.65,-2.00%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 285.40,-1.86%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 410.95,-0.68%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1052.60,-0.36%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1870.50,-0.35%), among others.

Auto index was at 59769.99 up by 1440.46 points or by 2.47%. UNO Minda Ltd. (Rs. 1151.60,+4.49%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 13739.75,+3.68%), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. (Rs. 149.45,+3.39%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3165.35,+3.29%), TVS Motor Company Ltd. (Rs. 3548.35,+3.13%),.

Metal index was at 40334.14 down by -287.56 points or by -0.71%. Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 524.60,-3.16%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 337.35,-3.12%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 957.05,-2.00%), APL Apollo Tubes Ltd. (Rs. 1802.40,-1.24%), Jindal Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1082.40,-0.71%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4061 , shares advanced were 1973 while 1856 shares declined and 232 were unchanged.
