Sensex pare some gains, Nifty tests 24,100

The Nifty50 and Sensex pared some of their intraday gains on Thursday as selling pressure in metal, pharma, and oil & gas stocks offset strength in other sectors, leading to a moderation in the market's upward momentum.

At 14:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77291.47 up by 300.25 points or by 0.39 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24110.5 up by 88.85 points or by 0.37 %

Sensex touched intraday high of 77803.18 and intraday low of 77197.99 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24261.6 and intraday low of 24094.3

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5440.00,+4.55%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3193.50,+4.21%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 13756.05,+3.80%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1046.80,+1.17%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2181.55,+1.10%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 284.75,-2.08%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1439.40,-1.50%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 408.10,-1.37%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1042.80,-1.29%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 353.00,-1.12%), among others.

Auto index was at 59884.83 up by 1555.3 points or by 2.67%. Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. (Rs. 153.20,+5.98%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 431.80,+4.97%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3193.50,+4.21%), TVS Motor Company Ltd. (Rs. 3575.00,+3.91%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 13756.05,+3.80%),.

Metal index was at 40126.21 down by -495.49 points or by -1.22%. National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 333.15,-4.32%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 520.70,-3.88%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 955.75,-2.13%), Jindal Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1069.45,-1.90%), APL Apollo Tubes Ltd. (Rs. 1798.05,-1.48%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4575 , shares advanced were 1766 while 2595 shares declined and 214 were unchanged.
