Mid-Session: Sensex down 430 points; NSE Nifty at 24538.1

Indian benchmark indices extended their losses in midday trade on Friday, with the Sensex declining over 400 points and the Nifty50 trading near the 24,550 mark, amid broad-based selling across sectors.

At 12:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 78524.51 down by -430.25 points or by -0.54 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24538.1 down by -97.9 points or by -0.4 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 78757.4 and intraday low of 78430.05 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24630.4 and intraday low of 24529.2

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2431.50,+2.59%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3478.55,+1.86%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5356.70,+0.67%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1333.25,+0.62%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1172.40,+0.62%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1086.00,-5.56%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1996.00,-4.46%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 3021.60,-2.84%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1436.65,-2.73%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 389.60,-1.12%), among others.

Auto index was at 64868.6 up by 651.14 points or by 1.01%. Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. (Rs. 168.15,+9.19%), Exide Industries Ltd. (Rs. 487.90,+2.99%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4443 , shares advanced were 2124 while 2094 shares declined and 225 were unchanged.
