Mid-Session: Sensex moves in narrow range, up 149 pts; Nifty tops 24,000

Indian benchmark indices erased some of the early gains but still trading higher with Nifty around 24100.

At 12:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77083.45 up by 149.86 points or by 0.19 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24101.4 up by 10.55 points or by 0.04 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 77357.97 and intraday low of 76988.22 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24188.3 and intraday low of 24076.85

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2333.95,+3.64%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1140.00,+3.01%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1319.30,+2.89%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1625.20,+2.50%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 5158.75,+1.04%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1426.45,-1.22%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2599.00,-1.18%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11588.00,-1.11%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 184.60,-0.97%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3311.50,-0.79%), among others.

_IT index was at 29887.99 up by 873.25 points or by 3.01%. Mastek Ltd. (Rs. 1833.40,+13.70%), InfoBeans Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 170.00,+9.75%), GNG Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 620.90,+6.82%), Newgen Software Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 557.25,+6.54%), Sagility Ltd. (Rs. 45.88,+5.69%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4440 , shares advanced were 2231 while 1977 shares declined and 232 were unchanged.
