Sensex up 180 pts in lacklustre session, Nifty around 24,100

Indian benchmark indices continued to trade in green during the noon trading session supported by buying in index heavyweights including Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.Infosys Ltd.HCL Technologies Ltd.among others.

At 14:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77114.29 up by 180.7 points or by 0.23 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24120.2 up by 29.35 points or by 0.12 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 77357.97 and intraday low of 76988.22 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24188.3 and intraday low of 24076.85

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2334.00,+3.64%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1629.05,+2.74%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1135.00,+2.56%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1306.00,+1.86%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 327.85,+1.19%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2592.85,-1.41%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1424.10,-1.38%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11584.85,-1.14%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 265.30,-0.79%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 185.25,-0.62%), among others.

IT index was at 29846.39 up by 831.65 points or by 2.87%. Mastek Ltd. (Rs. 1890.00,+17.21%), Newgen Software Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 572.65,+9.48%), GNG Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 628.00,+8.04%), InfoBeans Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 166.00,+7.17%), Sagility Ltd. (Rs. 45.95,+5.85%),.

FMCG index was at 17714.5 down by -88.76 points or by -0.5%. The Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1562.20,-3.21%), Jagatjit Industries Ltd. (Rs. 169.50,-2.92%), Honasa Consumer Ltd. (Rs. 471.45,-2.61%), Mrs. Bectors Food Specialities Ltd. (Rs. 233.30,-2.12%), Emami Ltd. (Rs. 379.75,-2.04%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4660 , shares advanced were 2339 while 2069 shares declined and 252 were unchanged.
