ICC T-20 World Cup gets underway today with teams from sub-continent being the top favorites. Devoid of any IPL’esque glitz and glamour, the World Cup in Sri Lanka is going to be about hard fought cricket, with 12 teams vying for the top prize.
India would be looking to add another World Cup feather to its cap after the ODI cup it won last year. But never count the Australians or the South Africans out. Australia hasn’t won a single T-20 championship and South Africa would want to get rid of the tag of the perennial chokers in the shortest format of the game.
There is no dearth of underdogs though and West Indies, Pakistan, or even the Kiwis could spring up a surprise or two.
India, Pakistan and England have already won the cup in its previous editions. Will there be a new winner this time? Wait till Oct. 7 for the answers.
