India’s Power Consumption Rises Marginally by 2.6% to 153.63 bn Units in July

India's power consumption saw a modest year-on-year increase of 2.6 per cent, reaching 153.63 billion units (BU) in July 2025, according to official data.

In comparison, consumption stood at 149.65 BU in July 2024.

Experts attribute the sluggish growth to heavy rainfall across several regions, which led to lower usage of cooling appliances, thereby dampening overall power demand during the month.
