Brahmaputra Infrastructure achieves milestone in Bairabi-Sairang Railway Project

Brahmaputra Infrastructure Ltd has announced the successful completion and testing of critical components of the Bairabi-Sairang Broad Gauge Railway Line in Mizoram, marking a major step forward in the state’s connectivity. The project, valued at ?175.06 crore, includes the construction of two major bridges over the Chakra River between Bairabi and Sairang.

The scope of work involved the construction of Tall Bridge No. 89, featuring three steel girder spans of 103.50 metres each, and Bridge No. 196, comprising two spans of 78.80 metres and two spans of 103.50 metres. Both bridges, built on pile foundations, were supported by ancillary and protection works to ensure long-term stability, safety, and environmental safeguards along the corridor.

The company confirmed that all foundations, substructures, and superstructures have passed rigorous testing, including load trials, structural integrity checks, and alignment verification. Speed trials of up to 110 km/h were successfully conducted, following which the Commissioner of Railway Safety authorised operations at a maximum permissible speed of 90 km/h. This clearance signifies that the bridges are structurally sound, compliant with safety protocols, and ready for integration into the railway network.

The inauguration of the project will be carried out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking the culmination of years of planning and construction to strengthen railway connectivity in Mizoram. The company said this milestone is expected to significantly boost regional integration, economic development, and mobility for residents and industries in Northeast India.

Brahmaputra Infrastructure added that it will continue to update the stock exchange and stakeholders with details of the inauguration schedule, logistics, and progress on other projects under execution.
