Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has joined hands with Qualcomm to establish the TCS Innovation Lab in Bengaluru, designed to co-develop next-generation Edge AI and Software Defined Everything (SDx) solutions. The collaboration will enable industries to deploy smart, scalable and sustainable capabilities on Qualcomm® platforms to boost efficiency, resilience and real-time decision-making across sectors.
The new facility, part of TCS’ IoT-focused “Bringing Life to Things” network lab, comes equipped with a private 5G network and advanced infrastructure to support rapid prototyping, testing, and large-scale implementation of Edge AI. It will focus on industries such as healthcare, smart infrastructure, manufacturing, and security and surveillance—sectors that require agile, cost-efficient IoT and AI-driven solutions.
Savi Soin, Senior Vice President & President, Qualcomm India, said the collaboration will bring practical, real-time Edge AI applications to industries that are evolving towards a software-defined approach. “Together, we aim to develop solutions that are cost-effective, efficient, scalable, and tailored to the needs of enterprises looking to modernize and grow,” he added.
The lab will create intelligent devices capable of autonomous decision-making, helping enterprises reduce costs and increase agility. TCS will combine its SDx expertise with Qualcomm Technologies’ Edge AI-enabled System-on-Chips to develop hardware-agnostic, configurable and secure systems. Potential applications include intelligent medical devices, industrial handhelds, smart infrastructure and advanced safety and surveillance systems.
V Rajanna, Business Group Head, Technology, Software and Services, TCS, said, “This state-of-the-art co-innovation lab will drive the development of next-generation solutions that unlock greater agility, efficiency and long-term business value for our clients.”
The initiative builds on TCS’ and Qualcomm’s longstanding partnership in engineering services and IT transformation. Recently, TCS developed a real-time smart visual anomaly detection solution for a leading automotive manufacturer, using Qualcomm Technologies’ edge device to achieve 90% real-time accuracy in surface defect detection.
Regu Ayyaswamy, Global Head, IoT & Digital Engineering, TCS, said the partnership underscores TCS’ commitment to building an intelligent, connected future. “By combining TCS’ SDx approach with Qualcomm Technologies’ Edge AI platforms, we will create adaptive, scalable and sustainable solutions delivering exceptional value to our clients across sectors.”
TCS will draw on its decades of experience in industrial platforms, Engineering Research & Development, and AI-enabled automation to deliver resilient enterprise environments. Its SDx capabilities will enable intelligent controls, predictive maintenance, device prognostics, and AI-driven services—laying the groundwork for next-generation network technology platforms.
