Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has entered into a strategic partnership with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to support the Indian Air Force’s Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme, India’s 5th-generation fighter aircraft initiative.
The L&T–BEL consortium will soon respond to the Expression of Interest issued by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), combining their expertise to deliver cutting-edge defence technology. The partnership will draw on L&T’s strength in developing strategic defence and aerospace platforms and BEL’s experience in defence electronics and systems integration.
This collaboration represents a significant step toward strengthening India’s indigenous defence capabilities and aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ vision. Both companies have previously contributed to the Light Combat Aircraft programme, supplying major aero-structure modules and developing mission-critical avionics and electronic systems.
Commenting on the partnership, S.N. Subrahmanyan, CMD of L&T, said the collaboration reflects a major leap in modernising India’s defence capabilities. “Both organisations are leaders in our domains, and our combined efforts will bolster national security and self-reliance in defence technologies,” he added.
Manoj Jain, CMD of BEL, noted that the AMCA project embodies India’s growing defence technology prowess. “With L&T’s engineering and systems integration capabilities and BEL’s expertise in defence electronics, we are confident of delivering a world-class solution for the Indian Air Force,” he said.
