The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC), the technical arm of the Department of Telecommunications, has signed an MoU with the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) to collaborate on joint research, studies, and technical contributions in emerging telecom technologies and global standardisation efforts.
Signed on November 19 at IIIT-Delhi, the agreement establishes a framework for cooperation in developing India-specific standards, test frameworks, and indigenous solutions. The collaboration also aims to enhance India’s participation in global bodies such as ITU-T and 3GPP through strengthened contributions to National Working Groups.
The partnership will focus on key areas including AI-driven telecom applications, 5G/6G research, SDN and NFV, free-space optical communication and Li-Fi, and renewable energy technologies for telecom infrastructure.
TEC and IIIT-Delhi said the alliance will accelerate domestic R&D, support the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, and help build secure, future-ready communication networks tailored to Indian requirements.
