Bharat Forge inks Rs 1,661.9 cr contract with Defence Ministry for Supply of CQB Carbines

Bharat Forge Limited (BFL) has signed its largest-ever small arms contract with the Ministry of Defence for the supply of indigenously designed and developed Close Quarter Battle (CQB) Carbines.

Under the contract, valued at Rs 1,661.9 crore, Bharat Forge will supply 255,128 units of 5.56 x 45 mm CQB Carbines to the Indian Army. The agreement was signed on December 30, 2025, with execution scheduled over a period of five years.

The 5.56 x 45 mm CQB Carbine is an indigenously designed, developed and manufactured (IDDM) compact firearm, jointly developed by the Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE) of the Defence Research and Development Organisation and Bharat Forge Limited at Pune.

The company said the contract aligns with the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission and reinforces its commitment, along with its wholly owned defence subsidiary Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited, to supplying advanced ‘Made in India’ defence equipment and platforms to the Indian Armed Forces.
