RBI fines Daund Urban Co-operative Bank Rs 5,000 for lapses in credit information reporting

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 5,000 on Daund Urban Co-operative Bank Limited, Daund, Maharashtra, for failing to comply with regulatory directions related to ‘Credit Information Reporting’.

In an order dated February 2, 2026, the central bank said the penalty was levied under Sections 25 and 23 of the Credit Information Companies (Regulation) Act, 2005.

The action follows a statutory inspection conducted with reference to the bank’s financial position as of March 31, 2025. RBI issued a show-cause notice after identifying compliance gaps. After reviewing the bank’s written and oral submissions, the regulator concluded that the bank had failed to submit customer credit data to any Credit Information Companies (CICs).

RBI clarified that the penalty relates solely to regulatory deficiencies and does not affect the validity of any transactions between the bank and its customers. The action is also without prejudice to any further measures the central bank may initiate.
