AGI Greenpac Breaks Ground on Rs 1,000 Cr Aluminium Can Plant in Uttar Pradesh

AGI Greenpac Limited has commenced construction of a Rs 1,000 crore aluminium beverage can manufacturing facility in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, marking a major expansion into the fast-growing metal packaging segment.

The greenfield plant, spread across 34 acres, will be equipped with advanced, high-speed production technology and is expected to begin operations in the first half of 2027. In its initial phase, the facility will house two production lines with a combined capacity of 1.6 billion cans annually, scalable to over 2 billion cans per year.

The plant will produce a wide range of aluminium beverage cans—including standard, sleek, and slim formats—catering to segments such as carbonated drinks, beer, energy drinks, and ready-to-drink beverages.

Strategically located in Uttar Pradesh, the facility will offer strong logistics advantages, enabling faster delivery and cost efficiencies for customers across North and Central India. The company also aims to leverage synergies with its existing glass packaging business.

Sustainability remains a key focus, with the plant being designed to achieve a Platinum Green Building rating and incorporate energy-efficient and resource-optimised operations.

With India’s aluminium can market poised for strong growth driven by premiumisation and sustainability trends, AGI Greenpac aims to strengthen its position as an integrated packaging solutions provider in the country.
