RBI imposes Rs 20,000 penalty on Aurangabad District Central Co-operative Bank

The Reserve Bank of India has imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 20,000 on The Aurangabad District Central Co-operative Bank Limited for non-compliance with RBI directions related to credit information reporting.

The penalty was levied through an order dated May 14, 2026, under the provisions of the Credit Information Companies (Regulation) Act, 2005.

According to the RBI, the action follows findings from a statutory inspection conducted by NABARD with reference to the bank’s financial position as of March 31, 2025. The central bank found that the co-operative bank failed to submit borrowers’ credit information to all four Credit Information Companies, leading to the regulatory action.

The RBI clarified that the penalty is based solely on compliance deficiencies and does not affect the validity of any transactions or agreements between the bank and its customers.
