RBI fixes premature redemption price of SGB 2019-20 Series VII at Rs 15,275 per Unit

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that the premature redemption price for the Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) 2019-20 Series VII tranche, due on June 10, 2026, has been fixed at Rs 15,275 per unit.

Under the provisions of the Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme, investors are permitted to seek premature redemption after the completion of five years from the date of issue on interest payment dates. The SGB 2019-20 Series VII bonds were issued on December 10, 2019, making June 10, 2026, the next eligible redemption date.

The redemption price has been determined based on the simple average of the closing price of 999 purity gold published by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association Ltd over the previous three business days—June 5, June 8, and June 9, 2026.

Accordingly, eligible bondholders opting for premature redemption on June 10, 2026, will receive Rs 15,275 per unit of the Sovereign Gold Bond.
