VA Tech WABAG has secured a large Design & Build contract for the proposed Ajman Sewage Biorefinery Plant – Phase 3 in the United Arab Emirates, marking the company's strategic entry into the UAE market. The contract has been awarded by Ajman Sewerage (Private) Company Limited and will be executed through a consortium led by WABAG.

The project, scheduled for completion over 24 months, involves the design, engineering, procurement and construction of a 60 MLD sewage treatment plant. The scope includes inlet works, primary and secondary treatment systems, advanced sludge management facilities, odor control systems, power generation units, and tertiary treatment through disc filtration systems to ensure high-quality treated effluent.

The facility will deploy advanced mechanical and biological treatment technologies based on the Activated Sludge Process (ASP), reinforcing sustainable wastewater management practices in the region.

The order strengthens WABAG’s footprint in the GCC region and enhances its credentials for pursuing larger and more complex water infrastructure projects across the Middle East. The company said the project represents a key milestone in its regional growth strategy, positioning it to capitalize on increasing investments in water security, sustainability, and infrastructure resilience across the UAE and the broader Gulf region.
